The Bar area along with the reception area dates back to 1740 and forms the origins of the building. A sure indication of 'settling in' over the years is the now famous squinty door frame.
The Grant family owned the Hotel for a couple of hundred years until 1985 when it was sold into private enterprise, but it cannot forget its history and many references to the Grant family remain in the Hotel today.
The old stags head on the wall looks over you as you enter and has welcomed travellers from all over the word for decades. Affectionately known as Angus, he has been the guardian of the bar for over 100 years.
